Homeostatic Functions of Tecrem, a CD46-Like Regulatory Protein of Complement Activation, on Epithelial Cells in Carp Fish

Fish mucosal surface is a significant interface for pathogens to infect from an aqueous environment. In addition innate and adaptive immune factors, epithelial cells are considered as physical barrier against microbial invasion. Previously, we identified mammalian CD46-like complement regulatory protein (Tecrem) in teleost detected its expression on derived fin, suggesting physiological role the fish surface. This study examines homeostatic roles of Tecrem maintaining epithelium, by analyzing behavior fin-derived cell lines (KF-1 common carp CFS ginbuna crucian carp) using monoclonal polyclonal anti-Tecrem antibodies. Expression KF-1 was associated with adhesion KF-1, enhanced treatments cells. Stimulation wound healing, tight-junction proteins, density monolayer culture.
